    Overview

    The Upperlimb Masterclass

    This 2-day course has been shaped to combine effective methods of assessment, treatment and functional rehabilitation of the whole upper limb. With strong background in the management of upper limb injuries, the tutor will present a course that will allow clinicians to enhance their existing knowledge and practice advanced skills that are backed by latest evidence-based practice from clinical experience and concurrent research. 

    General and Specific objectives:

    • Appreciation of functional anatomy and biomechanics in sports
    • Identify the common sporting injuries occurring in the upper limb
    • Understand the diverse mechanisms which could lead to injuries
    • Identify which objective measures are most indicative for sporting injuries
    • Appreciate which special tests can add value to a clinical assessment.
    • Discuss a variety of useful hands-on techniques
    • Provide clinical and research-based evidence to support any practice undertaken.
    • The equipment worth considering for rehabilitation
    • Components of global and specific exercise prescription
    • Variety of exercises when approaching the UpperLimb
    • An interactive learning environment encouraging discussion

    Skills acquired by the participants at the end of the course:

    • Enhanced clinical reasoning for techniques used and knowledge on relevant literature with clinical applicability
    • Use of clinical measures to assist with injury diagnosis, progression, prognosis and return to sport
    • Use of special orthopaedic tests to assist with diagnosis
    • Ability to plan a rehabilitation program (macro planning)
    • Ability to plan exercises using intensity, volume, and frequency parameter
    • Ability to choose from a variety of exercises to enhance athlete experience
    • Ability to critique current practice and consider how to enhance one’s clinical approach
