    IKN Approach: Upper limb Assessment and Rehabilitation

    This course is for all healthcare professionals that work with individuals experiencing upper body pain and/or movement limitations. This course will go into depth about the neurological, joint, and muscular features of the upper body that are important to integrate into your assessment & rehabilitation plan. The focus will be placed on how to identify & treat key limitations in the neck, shoulder, elbow, and wrist. You will learn many new manual therapies & exercise-based techniques for many common upper-body musculoskeletal conditions in a step-by-step manner. These techniques will be taught within the context of specific assessments, as well as case scenarios that we will work through as a group.

     

    General & specific objectives:

    • To develop a greater understanding of how the nervous system, muscles, and joints interact across the upper body
    • To develop a full assessment process for neck, shoulder, elbow & wrist pain and movement limitations
    • To identify appropriate manual therapy & exercises techniques to use for specific limitations
    • Practice an array of treatment techniques & how to put together a step-by-step plan for common musculoskeletal conditions
