    Cardio Pulmonary Rehabilitation Practitioner Course - Abu Dhabi

    This 2-day workshop is designed for participants to become experts in and learn ICU, IPD, and OPD rehabilitation with advanced manual techniques, exercises, and fast-track recovery protocols for Cardiopulmonary and Non- Cardiopulmonary conditions.

    HANDS-ON PRACTICAL:

    •       Respiratory PNF (Basic & Advanced)

    •       Neurophysiological Facilitation techniques in Respiration

    •       Ventilatory Muscles Activation Techniques

    •       Difference in Physiotherapy treatment approach and treatment protocols in various Respiratory diseases

    •       Different Advanced Breathing techniques as per the disease

    •       Respiratory Muscle Rehabilitation

    •       Strength and Endurance Training for Respiratory muscles

    DAY 1

    Introduction, Pulmonary Anatomy, and Physiology

    Instructor will give a brief introduction about herself and her practice to the participants

     

    Surface anatomy and physiology of the lungs will be discussed

    9:30-10:30 am

    Obstructive and Restrictive Lung diseases, and Differences in Physiotherapy treatment

    Positioning and Postural Drainage of Lungs

    The instructor will cover the definition of obstructive and restrictive pulmonary diseases, their types/categorization, and the differentiation between the 2

     

    Participants will also learn about postural drainage, different positioning for each lobe of the lung

    Diagnosing and deciding pulmonary PT treatment based on X-ray reading

    Participants will learn about types of X-ray views of the chest, findings on a chest X-ray, and how to read chest X-rays for various conditions

    Modes of Mechanical Ventilation

    Participants will learn about modes of mechanical ventilation, PEEP, CPAP and BIPAP

    ICU Management

    Practical for assisting toward weaning from a ventilator

    Neuro-Physiological Facilitation techniques (NPF)

    Instructor will teach about steps in ICU management, how to assist in weaning from a ventilator and NPF techniques, indications, and practical demonstrations which the participants will practice in a group of 3-4 each

    Respiratory or Ventilatory Muscles Facilitation techniques

    Instructor will teach non-invasive bronchial hygiene techniques, passive airway clearance, active airway clearance and devices, off-ventilator rehab, and Incentive spirometry use in tracheostomy clients

    4:00 – 5:00 pm

    Practical session for Respiratory or Ventilatory Muscles Facilitation techniques

    Participants will be divided into groups of 3-4 each and they will practice the techniques taught in the last hour

    5:00 – 6:00 pm

    Post-Intensive care syndrome

    Early mobilization indications and techniques in ICU

    Breathing Exercises

    Dyspnea

    Instructor will cover each topic listed above in detail and explain how to combine and select the type of Breathing Exercises as per the condition

     

    She will also explain types of dyspnea, reasons for dyspnea, scales to measure dyspnea, dyspnea management with breathing control in pregnancy, and use of NMES and FES for dyspnea treatment

    ACBT, Autogenic Drainage, Positive Expiratory devices, and Mobilization with continuous O2 monitoring

    Instructor will cover each topic in detail and explain how to implement these strategies in the rehab plan

    8:30-9:30 am

    Practical session for ACBT, Autogenic Drainage, Positive Expiratory devices, and Mobilization with continuous O2 monitoring

    Participants will practice each technique explained in the last hour in groups

    9:30-10:30 am

    Lung surgeries and Case discussions

    Instructor will talk about types of lung surgeries and case studies on various conditions

    10:30-10:45 am

    OPD Pulmonary Rehabilitation

    Instructor will list the steps in OPD rehabilitation, selecting the perfect submaximal test, functional assessment, results, FITT principle for OPD rehab, respiratory muscles, and how to stretch, strengthen or relax them

    11:45 am -12:45 pm

    Practical session for OPD rehabilitation

    Participants will be divided into groups of 3-4 each to practice what they learned in the previous hour

    12:45 - 1:45 pm

    Respiratory Muscle Training (RMT)

    Participants will learn about respiratory muscle training, types, contraindications to RMT, stretching and strengthening exercises for respiratory muscles, extremity exercises

    2:45 - 3:45 pm

    Practical session for Respiratory muscle training (RMT)

    Participants will be divided into groups of 3-4 each to practice what they learned in the previous hour

    3:45 – 4:00 pm

    Coffee break

    4:00 – 5:00 pm

    Telerehabilitation of Pulmonary cases and ABG analysis

    Instructor will present cases managed with telerehabilitation during Covid-19

     

    She will also talk about ABG analysis, 3-step interpretation, and exercises

    Physiotherapy Treatment & Rehabilitation: Intercostal Muscle Strain,

    Intercostal Pain, Rib Fractures

    Instructor will teach about each topic listed above in detail, with their treatments in detail
