The Level 1 is part of the Professional Diploma in Integrated Kinetic Neurology. You can choose to participate in Level 1 or enroll for both the levels and earn your Diploma at a discounted price. Level 1 is a 2-day course with intense hands-on learning and application of IKN concepts with evidence based practical neuroscience of pain and performance.
Neuroplasticity is the buzz word nowadays, and what the research is telling us is that we need to engage more with this process to facilitate more positive change in clients suffering from painful conditions and performance issues. To engage with a more neuroplasticity approach, we need to address more of the sensory systems.
Typically, we as Physiotherapists only engage with the proprioceptive system with our clients, through manual techniques, exercises, stretching etc. However, we need to be able to address other layers to improve overall function, and that means integrating the visual/oculomotor system, the vestibular system, the cerebellum, and integrate this with our proprioceptive approach.
What you will learn on our course is an incredibly simple way to assess these higher order sensory systems, and incorporate them with your current approach using manual therapy and exercise/corrective therapy. This will allow you to create more neuroplastic change, and help your clients get back to pain-free movement rapidly. The key is making it simple to perform in clinic and to explain to your clients. When your client can better understand what’s going on, it has a hugely positive influence on their recovery process.
This course will give you a wider base of tools to utilize when trying to help every client that comes into your gym/clinic.
