    Overview

    Paediatric IASTM Practitioner Course

Paediatric Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (PIASTM) is a therapeutic technique taught by KPI – Kinesio Prehab Institute that uses specific applied instruments on children to promote mobilization of restricted tissue. This course was designed and authorized by only Dr. Kanu Kaushik (PT) to teach paediatric physiotherapists and occupational therapists.

The ergonomic design of these instruments provides the clinician with the ability to locate and effectively break down fascial restrictions and scar tissue which may have developed as a result of surgery, immobilization, repeated strain or other mechanisms; allowing the clinician to treat the affected area with appropriate amount of pressure.

If you are into managing Paediatric & Neuro conditions with any type of soft tissue work in your practice or interested in adding a new tool to it, then this PIASTM Course is for you.

    Course description & aims:

    • This course will teach participants about PIASTM technique and its application on children/patients.
    • It is one of the latest techniques where one of most advanced tools – Accel Tool (only one tool to work on paediatric conditions) is used which enables clinicians to efficiently locate and treat individuals diagnosed with soft tissue dysfunction.
    • It can be used in conjunction with any Neuro Developmental Therapy, manual therapy, supplementation with exercises and additional modalities.
    • To help clinicians/participants learn how to assess clients/patients to get the most out of your treatment using advance PIASTM methods to correct muscle dysfunction and neurological conditions in children.
    • Learn an evidence-based technique to help treat, release and accelerate healing time for your patients, clients and athletes.
    • To learn the fundamentals of PIASTM and how to integrate them into your current practice or repertoire of skills.

    Course outcome:

    • Ability to integrate it to current practice seamlessly.
    • Review and develop a better understanding of soft tissue injury, healing and reactivity of PIASTM and Functional release technique.
    • Identify and discuss the indications and contraindications of PIASTM.
    • Select the appropriate protocol for particular conditions in paediatric populations.
    • Proper identification of bio-mechanical principles integrated for treatment.
    • Correctly identify, address and modify techniques for treatment.
    • Have a strong understanding of how to use any IASTM tool in the market apart from PIASTM tools.
    • International listings (PIASTM provider list) for PIASTM Practitioners and your practice.

Conditions where PIASTM can be used:

    • Cerebral Palsy kids with spasticity and muscle contractures
    • Autistic kids with tactile dysfunction
    • Club Foot
    • Sports injuries in children
    • Toe walking (due to calf muscle tightness)
    • Torticollis
    • Myofascial pain and restrictions
    • Musculoskeletal imbalances
