Course Description:
The MKT Soft Tissue Mobilization Tools Hybrid Module is an intensive one-day course designed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge to effectively use Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) techniques. This course combines theoretical understanding and practical application of soft tissue mobilization using specially designed stainless steel tools. Participants will gain hands-on experience and learn to integrate these techniques into their clinical practice to enhance patient outcomes.
Course Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
1. Understand the principles and current evidence supporting the use of IASTM.
2. Comprehend the role of the myofascial system in connecting the neuro-musculoskeletal and visceral systems.
3. Select appropriate MKT Soft Tissue Mobilization tools based on body contours and specific soft tissue restrictions to design effective treatment plans.
4. Identify indications, contraindications, and precautions for safe practice of IASTM.
5. Apply various basic and advanced strokes, including scraping, skimming, arching, friction, scooping, hold & stretch, and movement-assisted techniques.
6. Interpret different bevels and treatment edges (concave, convex) based on the soft tissue area and desired biomechanical effect.
7. Integrate rehabilitation approaches with graded outcome measures, combining strokes, soft tissue activation, tissue stretch, and strengthening exercises.
8. Recognize clinical presentations and findings from aponeurotic junctions, ligaments, myotendinous junctions, retinacula, periosteum, and intermuscular fibers.
9. Explain the rationale for each treatment plan, including differential diagnosis and accurate treatment dosage.
Accreditation:
The Hybrid module consists of 3 hours of pre-reading and 9 hours of practical lab sessions. Participants will receive 9 International CPD hours upon successful completion, resulting in certification as an MKT Soft Tissue Mobilization Tools Practitioner.

Participants are required to complete the pre-study material prior to the practical lab sessions. The pre-study material covers:
1. Introduction, history, and past studies of IASTM.
2. Evidence-based studies and current literature.
3. Understanding fascial dysfunction, fasciopathy, densification, and thixotropy of soft tissue with pain receptors.
4. Paradigm shift in the treatment of soft tissue methods using IASTM.
5. Structure, function, integrated role, and anatomical continuity of fascia.
6. Faulty fascial biomechanics resulting in postural disturbances.
7. Transforming dysfunctional fascial chains into healthy fascia through IASTM.

10:45 AM - 12:15 PM: Structure and Selection
- Structure of vitality: Mechanical and physiological effects.
- Selection of basic strokes, edges, and tools.
- Incorporation with skill acquisition of basic strokes and tools selection based on desired outcomes.
- Integration of MKT Soft Tissue Mobilization Tools into ongoing therapy, including dosage and frequency.

1:00 PM - 2:30 PM: Practical Application of Basic Strokes
- Practical lab session on various strokes: Scraping, Skimming, Arching, Friction, Scooping.
- Skilled-based selection of tools for various body contours.
2:30 PM - 3:30 PM: Upper Limb and Shoulder Dysfunctions
- Practical lab session focusing on upper limb and shoulder dysfunctions.
- Assessment protocols and clinical keys.
- Integration of advanced strokes (Hold & Stretch, Movement Assisted Strokes) with basic strokes.
3:30 PM - 4:30 PM: Cervical, Mid Thoracic, and Lumbar Spine
- Practical lab session on cervical, mid thoracic, and lumbar spine.
- Assessment protocols and clinical keys.
- Integration of movement with the application of IASTM to enhance tissue gliding mechanisms.
4:30 PM - 5:30 PM: Hip, Knee, and Ankle
- Practical lab session on hip, knee, and ankle.
- Assessment protocols and clinical keys.
- Introduction and integration of advanced strokes with basic strokes.
5:30 PM - 6:00 PM: Exam
- Theory and practical exam to assess participants' understanding and skills.
